There are no stupid questions. But before you ask, look below and see if your answer is here
Absolutely, unequivocally no. This is one of the biggest and most persistent myths in fitness. To get bulky you have to try to get bulky. That means eating a specific diet, taking supplements and training specifically for that goal. Nobody will accidentally get bulky. Lifting weights makes your muscles stronger and denser. Eating more calories than you expend in a day makes your muscles bigger. So as long as you’re not eating like a person hellbent on bulking up, you won’t.
We operate like this: Warm Up, Mobility/Activation, Strength, Support, Conditioning. We work on a 4-5 week cycle where Monday to Saturday will be the same Strength and Support on the same days for that cycle while the conditioning portion varies. Check out our old WOD posts to see what this looks like.
If by skinny you mean reduce your body fat, then yes. Chances are that by doing CrossFit you will lose some of that soft dough cushioning your body. Thing #2 – if you’re going to eat a calorie deficient diet (eat less calories than you use during the day) then you will get skinny.
No way. Many people mistakenly believe they aren’t fit enough to get involved in CrossFit, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. At CrossFit Streets we have a specific mandate to encourage and support our members who are new to the game. If you decide you need to obtain some level of personal fitness before joining a CrossFit community, most likely you’re just going to put your health goals off longer. Use CrossFit to GET fit, not just to get more fit.
The best way to start is to jump right in. Come by our Box and see what the classes look like. Talk to our trainers and take advantage of the paid trial. See some of our other beginners in action. The best thing you can do is see how it all works for yourself and decide if you’re up for the challenge.
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that uses varied, functional movements performed at high intensity to develop full body fitness. CrossFit focuses on 10 basic tenets:
- Strength
- Stamina
- Cardiovascular endurance
- Power
- Speed
- Flexibility
- Accuracy
- Balance
- Coordination
- Agility
Each day the Box runs a different workout, which can be scaled to meet the current fitness level of participants. In this way, it is suitable for those with an elite level of fitness as well as those with no experience in CrossFit at all.
